I really didn’t know what to expect when I first joined DMZ's Incubator. I have over 18 years of experience in tech and in the business world, so I wasn’t even sure I needed an incubator program. What I really found helpful immediately was the community at DMZ. Having a group of people who are on the same journey as you but at different points was so reassuring. And then I started connecting with the EiRs and unlike other advisors that I’ve reached out to, these folks weren’t shy to roll up their sleeves and help me figure out things along the way. DMZ was key to getting a grant for Daakor that really enabled me to invest in a team and that in turn led us to our early revenue. We still have some ways to go, but I’m confident that we can make it with the resources available through DMZ.

For our founder group, coming to DMZ meant helping our company scale. They have helped us push through our seed round raise and we have started developing a sales playbook. We were knocking on the door of raising our seed round when we first entered the incubator program. Within a month of going through DMZ programming, the mentors and staff helped us lock in our terms and attract tangible interest from multiple investors. We also came in with a rough MVP product, a stacked sales funnel, and some steady initial revenue. The mentors and staff have helped us make steps towards product market fit and have helped us extend our burn rate considerably. They introduced us to a plethora of funding and partnership opportunities. We had a lot of raw potential coming into DMZ and they are playing an integral part in helping us scale efficiently.

Are incubator programs worth it? Before I started Bookmark, my last company grew to $60M in revenue with over 50 employees, so I didn’t think that there was a lot for me to learn in the program.
