Howdy,

It's Friday and it's been a heavy week.

Today's Creators Notes comes to you emotionally charged. I've drafted multiple versions of it, some of them trying to hide these emotions, but they are too important to stuff away.

Thanks for being here and thank you for reading.

Roe vs. Wade Overturned.

Abortion rights stripped from US Citizens, and left in the hands of individual States...

I normally cover news related to content creation, social media platforms, and digital creators. This story is related news because it effects every single one of us.

And frankly, I'm angry and this is the majority of what's on my mind today...

For those unaware, the US Supreme Court (and courts in general) have to rule on cases following historic precedents. They must consider past rulings so they don't contradict themselves in future rulings.

One of the most important precedents was the ruling in the Roe vs Wade case. Thanks to this case, it was ruled in 1973 that women have the right to an abortion.

Today, the Supreme Court voted to overturn that case.

Stripping abortion rights from the entire nation at once, leaving future rulings to individual states to decide. An uphill battle only getting steeper as states are starting to sign trigger laws to ban abortions.

My Takeaway

I am always torn on covering stories like this. I aim to make my content a 'safe space' where you aren't faced with bad news you get everywhere else.

But here's the thing: Stories like this make 'safe spaces' impossible.

A ruling like this is going to kill people.

My content being a 'safe space' doesn't matter when real life safe spaces are being destroyed. It's not time to carve out a safe space. It's time to build up this platform and fucking use it.

Now is the time to act. To join the voices who have been carrying the warning messages of this reality. To listen to the stories of people who are only alive because of their abortions. To VOTE the next chance you get, and to not let dwindling civil rights become another causality of the 24 hour news cycle.

Don't just cheer for the activists in this story. Stand beside them and amplify their cries for freedom.

This isn't the last ruling the Supreme Court has in their sights to overturn. Same sex marriage, contraception and more are already in their sights it won't be easy to defend them.

If you can, consider donating to Abortion Funds to help provide funding, travel, and more to those who need it more than ever in order to access a safe abortion.

This is the only news story I'm covering this week.

Stick these to your monitor. They're worth checking out.
  • Noisli - Create your own background noise environment
  • Inflation Explained in 6 Minutes (VIDEO)
  • The Tim Ferriss Show w/Jack Kornfield - Overcoming apathy, what happens in death, and finding purpose.

Jack Kornfield is an endless stream of wisdom, and I've listened to this episode twice in a row. I learned, I questioned, I cried.

Highly recommend it if you are struggling with your emotions today as I am.
