THE WEDDING Book Tour Giveaway

My Review:

I found Kelly Smith's The Wedding was a fantastic novel to spend my time on a gloomy, rainy day. It made me forget all about the dark clouds outside and brought a little brightness into my life for the moment. It was a story of loss, love, and friendship.
It was great meeting Grace, Piper, Sydney and Rachel. The foursome had a beautiful and special bond with one another. I enjoyed getting to know each one and seeing what would happen to them and what changes they would experienced. I felt as though I was part of their group. I was curious to see which one would be walking down the aisle next. I loved going on this emotional and relatable journey with these women and finding out where they are in the end. It was not hard for me to continuing reading the whole novel in one sitting. I loved every single page.

Five plus stars is what The Wedding deserves. I highly recommend it for fans of adult fiction and contemporary romance will not want to miss it. It is most definitely worth a reading. I would love to read more books like this one from the talented author, Kelly Smith, in the future. I am curious to see what releases she has in store for her characters and readers.

I received a paperback copy of Kelly Smith's The Wedding from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

More from Pat

Nestled in Chattahoochee National Forest, Southern Living Magazine named Blue Ridge, Georgia as one of 2022 South’s Best Mountain Towns. The first time my husband and I visited the town, we were impressed with the galleries, shops, Scenic Railway, and the friendly vibe. Although I was writing a series set near Savannah, the idea of Blue Ridge staring in a new series took root. When I finished writing the last book in the Butler Family series the idea had blossomed.

Another trip to the iconic town. This time to identify a setting for book one about Amanda, Erica, and Wendy, strangers who find themselves stranded in a cozy inn during a blizzard. We found the Blue Ridge Inn Bed and Breakfast. Perfect! I pressed the front-door buzzer. When I explained my mission to the woman who responded, she took my number and promised the owner would contact us. An hour later John Lavin met us on the front porch. He graciously gave us a tour and shared the 1890 Victorian home’s history.

Writing a fictional story set in a historic inn steps from the train depot and downtown Blue Ridge was inspiring. In fact, I’ve dedicated Blizzard at Blue Ridge Inn to John and guests who stay at the inn. In June, my husband and I plan to spend our anniversary in the suite reserved for Erica. We’ll ride the train and enjoy dinner at the Black Sheep restaurant, a scene in Blue Ridge series book two. By that time, book three will be finished. Then on to book four.

My Review

Blizzard at Blue Ridge Inn is the first book from the Blue Ridge series. It is, also, a great introduction to author, Pat Nichols. It was a pleasure travelling to the mountains of North Georgia. The unlikely trio of Wendy, Erica, and Amanda were thrown together and had to learn to overcome their differences. It was heartwarming to meet these three women and seeing how the blizzard changes their lives. I thought it was a great read.

I am giving Blizzard at Blue Ridge Inn five stars. I believe lovers of clean Women's fiction will not want to miss out on reading it. I am looking forward to the next installment from the Blue Ridge series, The Inheritance.

  3. There is no graphic violence.

Book Description:

The Heaven Spot is a modern-day mystery set in Palm Beach, Florida, that depicts opioid addict Maggie Robert’s desperate attempt to come to terms with her estranged daughter, Lilly’s, murder.

When divorcée Maggie Roberts stumbles into her Virginia bookstore for the last time to close up shop, she expects the morning to be rough. The business failure is hers alone. But as she packs up her books, two cops appear and inform her that her estranged daughter, Lilly, has died in West Palm Beach.

Heartbroken, Maggie heads to Florida to find out why Lilly passed and how she lived. But when she arrives in the Sunshine State, she barely recognizes the young woman in the morgue.

Maggie doubts she’ll ever forgive herself for her past mistakes with Lilly but believes that if she remains local, she can push the detective to focus on Lilly’s case and learn about her daughter. THE HEAVEN SPOT (a novel) Book Tour Giveaway

My Review:

The Heaven Spot is the first book I have had the pleasure in reading from the talented author, Mary Frances Hill. After finishing this one, it will not be the last. The tale starts off in my hometown and I thought the author did a fantastic job describing the area. I was instantly intrigued by this mystery of who done it. I never knew what direction Maggie was gong from scene to scene. Her determination and courage was admirable. I wanted to continue in finding out what happened to Lilly and who she became before her death. There was quite a twist that I could not have imagined. Maggie, herself, along the way had to face her own demons and questioning about events and if she is responsible for what Lilly went through. I thought it was a fascinating and thrilling book to read that I could not put down until I discovered the secrets are revealed and mystery is solved.

I am giving The Heaven Spot a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers and fans of well written suspense filled and psychological thrillers. I would love to read more novels from Mary Frances Hill to be released for years to come. I am interested in seeing where else she takes her characters to next. She has earned herself a new fan.

Moms, buy tickets today to see this inspiring film with your family in theaters soon!

Synopsis:

The Hopeful is the true story of a community whose lives were transformed as they learn what it means to truly wait for Jesus. This sweeping drama, set in 19th century New England, invites audiences of all ages to imagine how hope can change the world.

William Miller’s faith is in ruins. After miraculously surviving a fierce battle in the War of 1812, Miller questions why God spared him. His search for wisdom leads to an astonishing prophesy — the world is going to end. The Hopeful unfolds as a story of a man burdened with the knowledge of Christ’s return. Miller’s message resonates with some—even as it is scorned by others. When a young woman named Ellen Harmon listens to one of his sermons she is transformed. And through her witness the message begins to take flight. The preaching grows beyond prophecy and develops into a more holistic vision for how Christians should live and worship. We see blossoming the seeds of a new global movement of faith —the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The Hopeful is the true story of a community whose lives were transformed as they learn what it means to truly wait for Jesus. This sweeping drama, set in 19th century New England, invites audiences of all ages to imagine how hope can change the world.

My Review:

The Hopeful is one of the most encouraging and faith filled movies I have seen in a long time. This story of inspiration is based on a true story set during the nineteenth century in New England in America. It is a beautiful tale that offers viewers the beauty of hope, prayer, and faith. The drama shows how one received the wisdom and knowledge on the true meaning of the return of Jesus. I really enjoyed watching how it all unfolded for the characters. The actors made a wonderful performance to bring this story to life.

I am giving The Hopeful a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for viewers who enjoy watching clean, heartwarming, inspirational, and historical dramas.

About the Author

Jaime Jo, the coffee-fueled and cat-fancier extraordinaire, has entwined her life with the legendary Captain Hook, residing serenely in Wisconsin’s rural woodlands.

Her literary vocation involves penning Gothic tales, a baffling change from that of Austenites, with a preference to the master of dark, Edgar Allan Poe.

More from Jaime Jo

True crime did NOT just become popular in this century! Scour the old newspapers for a full and detailed telling of the latest crime. That’s how I got the idea for Night Falls on Predicament Avenue! Yes! I read an old newspaper article from the late 1800’s in which they described in quite delectable detail, the crime scene of a murder in a house with questionable history. That being said, it’s also important to note, that forensics DID just recently become popular in the last 50-100 years. In the 1800’s, if you were murdered, it was common for your neighbor to tour and trample over your crime scene out of curiosity and/or the hope they might be of service in solving the crime. More likely than not, they were merely wanna-be podcast listeners of true crime shows simply born too early for that technological advancement.

Spotlight: Spillage by Michael Gross

SPILLAGE LAUNCHES TODAY AS YANKEES OPEN SEASON

Debut Novel by Michael Gross Takes Damn Yankees to New Level in Devilishly Fun Throwback to 70s New York

“Faustian comedy of 1970s New York, the counterculture, and the Yankees... rich in wicked humor... a crackerjack novel of love and self-discovery.”

- Publishers Weekly BookLife Editor’s Pick

(New York, NY, March 28, 2024) -- Michael Gross's rollicking debut novel Spillage, a fantastical love story featuring rookie pitching phenom and would-be NY-savior Nick "The Swan" Spillage, launches today as the real-life Yankees begin their 2024 baseball season.

Spillage is a wild play on the Faustian musical Damn Yankees, a rock and roll romance and a wickedly comic throwback to the chaos of New York City’s darkest days. The novel has won early critical acclaim with reviewers praising its originality, authenticity, charm, humor, prose style, characters, and plot.

  • "Wildly creative... Gross provides such a juicy, unusual plot that readers will be riveted."
    - Kirkus Reviews

  • "A raucous rendition of '70s New York... intriguing and unique... unforgettable."
    - Independent Book Review

  • "An infectiously entertaining comic novel, charming and delightfully confusing."
    - Indie Reader "IR Approved"

  • "A must-read for anyone seeking an immersive literary experience rooted in the heart of one of America's most iconic cities."
    - BookView Review "Five Stars"

Set in 1976, the novel takes place when the Big Apple is in sorry shape.  Besieged on all sides, the city has become a graffiti-coated, garbage-filled, crime-ridden cauldron teetering on the edge of total collapse.  Adding to New York’s towering woes, a revolutionary group called the Satanic Vanguard has kidnapped the mayor, set fire to Coney Island, and threatened further mayhem. All that Gotham has to hope for are its resurgent Yankees, who’ve come back from the dead to reach the World Series by riding the arm of their rookie pitching phenom Nick Spillage. But Satan and his Vanguard plan to snuff that hope out too. They’ve targeted a young, rock-and-roll loving East Village couple to help with their diabolic scheme. That leads to the Faustian bargain at the center of the story.

The novel is nearly 50 years in the making. Seventy-two-year-old debut novelist Gross began writing Spillage the year the story takes place and returned to the manuscript decades later with more mature eyes after a successful career as CEO of a leading strategic communications firm. As Indie Reader put it, “One of the strengths of the book is the verisimilitude of its setting, New York (especially the East Village), captured as a time capsule of on-the-spot reportage rather than retrospective imagination. The period detail is impeccable, the mise-on-scene utterly convincing.”

According to BookView, “Gross expertly weaves together elements of 1960s counterculture, political commentary, and romance to create a gritty yet poetic portrayal of New York City. With engaging dialogue and vibrant descriptions, the novel is both an ode to the city’s resilience and a powerful exploration of redemption.”

Spillage is now available for purchase at Amazon. For more information about the story and author, please visit SpillageBook.com
