Seeking Evil (Hallowed Halls #3) by Mary Alford

Seeking Evil (Hallowed Halls #3)
ABOUT THE BOOK

When BAU Agent Sierra Parker's car dies in the middle of nowhere Wyoming, she breaks a critical rule by catching a ride with a kindly stranger. This decision leads her straight into the lair of serial killer, where she discovers she isn't the first victim. Dozens of barrels contain the remains of those who went before her, and none of them escaped. Can Sierra outwit the seasoned killer to save her life, or will she become the latest victim buried in a barrel?

The last Agent Zeke London heard from Sierra was when she told him she needed to get away to figure things out between them. That was over a week ago and his calls have been met with radio silence. Can he do the impossible and locate Sierra in the middle of the mountains before it's too late?

MY THOUGHTS.....

I always enjoy this author's romantic suspense novels, but this book takes it to another level! It is an intense story that kept me turning the pages to discover a serial killer's identity and determine the motives that spurred the actions. It didn't take long for me to think it was an older man named Henry until another possibility emerged. Who was "T"? Was more than one demented person involved?

I was drawn to the sweet but troubled romance between two FBI agents, but the psychological aspects were the real attention-grabbers. What causes someone to kill not once, but over and over again? Can they receive forgiveness and redemption? Do they deserve to be forgiven?

Seeking Evil is a page-turning, nail-biting, and often gut-wrenching story of danger, survival, and an overpowering will to live. I recommend it to all who enjoy romantic Christian suspense.

I received a complimentary digital copy from the author. There was no obligation for a positive review.

His Unforgettable Bride (Bride Ships: New Voyages #4) by Patti Stockdale & Jody Hedlund

His Unforgettable Bride (Bride Ships: New Voyages #4)
ABOUT THE BOOK

A pickpocket turned lady and a prince with a forgotten past find love in the most unexpected place…

Juliet Dash, orphan and former pickpocket, yearns to leave her troubled past behind. So when she arrives in British Columbia and takes a respectable job working for a pair of society sisters who offer to give her etiquette lessons, she’s one step closer to that dream. But when an unexpected encounter with an unconscious man turns her world upside down, Juliet must choose between her heart and her aspirations.

Weary of the pressure of royal life, Prince Henry Graighton longs for solace and anonymity. But when tragedy strikes and his brother winds up dead, Henry finds himself thrust into the role of heir apparent, leaving him to struggle with the weight of his grief and unwanted responsibility. And when Henry is kidnapped, he narrowly escapes with his life...but loses his memories in the process. In his darkest hour, a beacon of hope emerges in the form of Juliet, his savior and the key to unlocking his forgotten past.

With danger lurking at every turn and the weight of Henry’s royal duties looming over them, can their budding romance withstand the trials that lie ahead, or will Juliet be forced to sacrifice her own happiness for the sake of Henry’s kingdom?

MY THOUGHTS.....

I loved this story! His Unforgettable Bride is part Cinderella, part Prince and the Pauper, with a slight nod to Pygmalion/My Fair Lady! Juliet Dash longs to put being a thief behind her, and amnesia has robbed Gray of his past. Is her new job as a servant the path to Juliet's redemption? Will Gray's attraction for the beautiful Juliet help him make new memories?

This is a fantastic conclusion to the Bride Ships: New Voyages series. There's electrifying chemistry between Juliet and Gray, a mystery concerning Gray's true identity, and a special bond between Juliet and her society employers, Liby and Tabitha. Could these sisters make her "a proper young lady who never uttered Holy Moses, dad-blamed, or snakes alive"? Am I the only one reminded of Professor Henry Higgins and Eliza Doolittle? Author Patti Stockdale even shares intriguing etiquette tips from the mid 1800s at the beginning of each chapter!

His Unforgettable Bride is a captivating story filled with history, romance, and multiple surprises. I recommend it to all who enjoy historical Christian romance, and I applaud this successful partnership between authors Patti Stockdale and Jody Hedlund!

I received a complimentary copy from the authors and Sunrise Publishing. There was no obligation for a positive review.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Patti Stockdale writes sweet romance full of hope, history, and a good happily ever after. She can’t remember numbers, so she married a statistician. Thanks to him, she’s lived in all sorts of places and worked all sorts of jobs. While employed by the NFL, she once answered the phone with the wrong team’s name. She doesn’t work there anymore. For 11 years, she directed the programming at a nonprofit senior center and hosted an annual talent show, rocking a Dolly Parton wig, Annie Oakley boots, and a sweet—although snug—Batman costume. She no longer works there either. These days, Patti writes books and occasionally educational assessments and magazine articles.
