Physical inactivity is costing the global economy $27 billion annually

The WHO estimated that physical inactivity will cost the global economy $27.4B annually due to 500M new cases of preventable, noncommunicable diseases and mental illness through 2030. About 70% of this will be from depression, dementia, and hypertension. Policy changes and collaboration across government agencies could help reduce this by spurring physical activity.
