What type of programmer are you? Hacker, mathematician, or maker?

Used to be big time poet, but these days a maker. Life is simpler :)

Where I'm at as well. Kind of have to pick between impact and elegance.

    I'm totally a maker.
Sometimes a poet because I like to dig into source code.

Maker for sure. I don't have an engineering background so I start with the user and their problems, come up with an idea of how to solve it, and then figure out how to build it (learning a bunch along the way!).

This made me laugh because as a software developer I can completely identify with all of these scenarios. And yup, I'm a maker as you rightly point out most devs are.

This person is trying to look how he knows about programming but it contains so many non-senses. Clojure is misspelled as Closure and it is put into mathematical pure languages together with its creator Rich Hickey. But Clojure is super practical and allows 10x faster shipping of great quality software. So Clojure programmers care about building the same stuff but much faster and better. And a part of a working sofware is performance, so it has to be fast to be useable. Great programmers care about all this.

    Makers are into innovation

Hackers and mathematician are into invention

Most of the people fall under maker because innovation is easier than invention.

By the way I am a maker

I suppose most India hackers are makers

    I am definitely a hacker

    Definitely a maker. :D

Started off with robotics before going full software, so I'll have to say an intersection of hacker and maker 👀

Brilliant article. Very well articulated. I'd label myself as a mathematician.
