Russia's invasion 'biggest driver' of global internet freedom decline

Freedom House's report shows global internet freedom decreased for the 12th consecutive year, with Russia's invasion of Ukraine being the "biggest driver." This comes as Russia blocked several mainstream websites while Ukraine's internet was also undermined. Overall, people in 53 of the 70 countries faced legal repercussions. However, a record 26 countries, including the US, saw an uptick in freedom.
