Moon has been slowly slipping away from Earth

Scientists say the Earth-Moon distance was about 37282 miles closer about 2.5 billion years ago, thus confirming that the Moon has been slowly drifting away during this period. Their study also found that the length of a day during this period was much shorter at around 16.9 hours. Scientists came to this conclusion after analyzing rocks that make up the oldest parts of the Earth’s crust.
