The world now has 8 billion people

Per a UN report, the world population has hit 8B today, with 1B people added to the population in just 12 years. Middle-income countries, mainly in Asia, comprised most of the growth, with India set to surpass China as the world's most populous nation in 2023. The UN also predicts 8.5B people by 2030, 9.7B in 2050, & 10.4B in 2100, suggesting a rapid slowdown in the growth seen over the past century.
