Just made my first dollar with my SaaS after quitting my job for it

24M aspiring SaaS founder - I quitted my job in Feb, but already started building my product last October with my friends

Private Beta launch in last November got around 1k users

Public Beta launch in Feb, number of users spiked exponentially

But brutally journey, still made a total of 0 dollars, while cost is piling up fast

4 days ago, got the 1st monthly subscription user!

But it was a false alert, the user made a mistake, he wanted to pay for an add-on in our product, not the core service. Got the money, but not the validation for the product

Self doubt accumulated.

Considered changing path, discussed how to get new users

Made a big update today, fixed all the bugs early users complained, released the most-wanted features.

Sent email to all users about the big updates 12 hours ago

Went for a walk

Came back home and holy sh, 1st yearly subscription user!!! Cannot believe my eyes! Yearly!?

This feels good! Super, super good!

Self-doubt is disappearing

I know we still have a lot to go but this small step matters

Big learning: Before trying to target new users, listen to current ones, do the things they need, then communicate it to them, show them you care. Best of luck to y'all!

And I would love to hear feedback/thoughts from you about how to leverage this momentum :) the product is Saner.ai

Congrats for the first yearly user!! It definitely feels good to receive a drop of validation after so much work :)

How did you get your first users, especially the first 1k in the Private Beta? It's something that I really struggle with atm.

    1. 1

Oh, for me it was grinding for sure: it takes 4-5 months to get 1k users. I was cold outreach everywhere: Linkedin, Reddit, Twitter... For me, it was doing things don't scale at first

  7. 1

That's awesome. Makes the journey seem less lonely

    1. 1

Great to hear that :) All the best to you Fred

Thanks for sharing your journey to acquiring your first user. It serves as a reminder that persistence and listening to early adopters can make achieving such milestones feasible. Early users feedback is the best one, they often show they care and provide valuable insights along the way.

    1. 1

Yes, early adopters are the best, because they want you and the product to be successful

    1. 1

Thanks :) Best of luck to you as well

Your story is truly inspiring! I've just launched my MVP a few days ago and I'm seeking ways to promote it on LinkedIn, Reddit, and Twitter. If you have any tips, it would be of great help.

    1. 2

Congrats man :) my tips is to do cold reach out everywhere. And reddit is a hidden gem, to post in your niche community, but don't directly advertise it - read the patterns of that community first

    1. 1

      Thanks :) all the best!

This is awesome. Love this rollercoaster ride, aspiring founder🙌🏻

    1. 1

Yes bro, keep on grinding :) good luck

  15. 1

Congratulations! That's a huge win. Keep going for walks maybe is another good insight :D. I forget to clear my head, a cluttered mind is like a dirty behind. Keep building sir, inspired by your win!

    1. 1

Yes :) a walk definitely helps

Going through a similar experience. Quit my job to pursue my startup full-time. What has helped keep me sane has been the support group. Feel free to reach out if you ever need someone to just bounce ideas off of.

Austin, your journey with Saner.ai is inspiring. Your embrace of the "fail fast" philosophy and commitment to listening to user feedback are commendable. It's rare to see such responsiveness in today's startup landscape, and it sets you apart. Good luck in your future endeavors!

With the momentum from your first yearly subscription, what are the next key milestones you aim to achieve for Saner.ai in the short and long term?

    1. 1

Our next milestone is to finetune the product :) make the experience really smooth with the Chrome extension and then do official launch

How inspiring! Congratulations on your first annual subscription.
