Lately I feel like I’m stuck on a hamster wheel. I have to run faster and faster just to stay in the same place. If I stop working—creating new content, running promotions, launching new products, securing new brand deals—my business stops working. Can you relate? I launched Why We Buy 🧠 to help marketing geeks work smarter by understanding the hidden reasons why customers buy. And it’s working (kind of). Today 73,668 smart people like you read the newsletter. And my safe little solopreneur business did $745,000 in revenue last year. Yet there’s one sticky problem that’s keeping me up at night… I’ve become a slave to my business. I’m still grinding... I’m still the linchpin in my business… And I’m sick of it. I want my business to keep growing even when I’m on vacation. I want to double-down on the highest-leverage projects (and stop burning time on stuff that feels productive at the moment but doesn’t drive repeatable results). With that goal in mind, I asked myself a question that forced me to rethink my priorities: Could I build Why We Buy 🧠 into a $2M/year business… *while intentionally being lazier*? (And without selling snake oil… or my soul.) I know it’s possible. But it won’t be easy—at least not *at first*. In Q3, I’m swapping my business hamster wheel for growth flywheels. And I’m bringing you behind-the-scenes every step of the way. Each month we’ll tackle a new project designed to drive repeatable growth. We’ll run experiments and apply the behavioral science techniques we teach in Why We Buy 🧠 each week to our own marketing campaigns. And YOU can follow along to see what works (and what doesn’t), then steal the most effective stuff to use in *your* business. To give you a sneak peek of what’s coming in Q3: I’m partnering with ConvertKit → Soon to be Kit, Superside, and Studio to help us build growth flywheels. So by now you might be wondering… What is a “growth flywheel”? Flywheels power the world’s largest businesses—brands like Amazon, Hubspot, Arbonne, and Dropbox. And smart creators like Sahil Bloom and Jay Clouse have built flywheels in their businesses too. If you want to grow your business AND intentionally be lazier… you need flywheels. In tomorrow’s special issue of Why We Buy 🧠 we’ll go deeper into flywheels. See you in your inbox! P.S. If you’re not subscribed to the newsletter yet, I’d change that pronto.
Love a good flywheel. And Nathan Barry is the GOAT when it comes to that topic. I'm always here if you need marketing support. I can work while you're on vacation. 😂
I'm here for this!!!
You can have it all, just not all at once—or can you?
Let's go!
Marvelous Katelyn, can't wait to see this. Soon, soon, soon however I might be able to show you a real nice tool, technology, model that can help people/organisations to understand why people buy with a working, proven scientific base. See you then. Jan...
Sooo excited for this!! and loove the idea of intentionally being lazier in your biz. Were all gonna learn so muvh from you
Forget the hamster wheel, it's all about those growth flywheels now. This totally sounds like a plan to escape the daily grind and still rake in the dough though Katelyn Bourgoin 🧠
I can't wait to see where this is going Katelyn I think you are in a great place to experience 'joyful growth' if you leverage what you have already created.
