Anticipation Thursday: Shattered Sanctuary by Nancy Mehl

Anticipation Thursday!

I'm always excited to learn about a new book by a favorite author. Today, for  Anticipation Thursday, I'm sharing a new book scheduled to be released on March 18, 2025. I love Christian suspense, so how can I not be excited about Scattered Sanctuary by Nancy Mehl?

ABOUT THE BOOK

Grappling with the aftermath of a tragic incident that altered her life, ex-police officer and bestselling mystery author Erin Delaney finds solace in the tranquility of a cabin nestled deep in the Smoky Mountains. But her newfound peace is shattered when cries pierce the night, hinting at a haunting presence lurking in the woods. When local police chief Adrian Nightengale seeks her help with a baffling murder case, she is thrust back into the world of crime solving. As they delve into the investigation, Erin's intuition reveals chilling truths about the killer's motives and methods.

Joined by the enigmatic Kaely Quinn-Hunter, a former FBI behavioral analyst, Erin not only embarks on a quest to stop a merciless serial killer but also confronts the ghosts of her past. In a race against time, Erin must defeat her own demons while outmaneuvering a cunning killer or risk becoming the next victim in a deadly game of cat and mouse.

In this propulsive series starter, bestselling author Nancy Mehl steals readers away to the perilous Tennessee town of Sanctuary, setting the stage for an action-packed mystery that will keep them on the edge of their seats.

Why is my anticipation so great?

Nancy Mehl is one of my go-to authors for thrilling suspense novels! I've discovered that no one can depict a troubled mind better than Ms. Mehl, but she always shows how goodness can prevail. In 2018, she introduced readers to FBI Profiler Kaely Quinn, and I was instantly hooked. Now, Kaely's back to help an ex-police officer solve a murder. I can't wait to meet Erin Delaney and reunite with Kaely!

This is a snippet from the prologue of Shattered  Sanctuary. Don't you wonder what this person is planning?

If you enjoy psychological thrillers with spiritual themes and light romance, you'll want to grab a copy of Shattered Minds.  It releases Tuesday, March 18th.

The Tiny Crown by Susan Barnett Braun

The Tiny Crown
ABOUT THE BOOK

What if you woke up to the life you'd always dreamed of? Lucinda is discontent. At 16, she faces problems at home, challenges at school, and an aching emptiness where romance should be. Surely, everything would be better in England, right? A sudden trip to the Land of Hope and Glory offers more than Cinda has ever hoped for--and maybe more than she bargained for.

MY THOUGHTS.....

Did you ever have a teacher who seemed unusually hard on you? Remember thinking, "my parents just don't understand"? How about dreaming about the cool guy in school but only getting attention from an "ordinary boy"?  I remember, and it's apparent that author Susan Barnett Braun also remembers because she's perfectly captured the angst of being a teenager!

This engaging story has realistic characters, vivid descriptions, and a plot that kept me guessing. Sixteen-year-old Lucinda Brooks considers her life boring until she travels to England, meets a prince, and experiences life in medieval England. Will Cinda choose this Cinderella existence or decide that being an American teenager isn't so bad after all?

Fantasy, time travel, a little mystery, and a lot of historical detail make this a captivating read, but I especially appreciated the powerful nod to acceptance and contentment! The Tiny Crown is labeled Young Adult, but I won't hesitate to share it with my 11-year-old granddaughter. It's also an enjoyable read for older readers like me!

I received a complimentary copy from the author. There was no obligation for a positive review. I am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
