Billboard & Twitter to Launch ‘Hot Trending’ Chart Tracking Music Buzz Online

Billboard and Twitter have partnered on a first-of-its-kind, real-time Billboard chart that will showcase the most talked-about songs and music topics on the social media platform.

Billboard and Twitter have partnered on a first-of-its-kind Billboard chart that will showcase the most talked-about songs on the social media platform, it was announced Wednesday at Twitter’s annual NewFronts presentation.

Named Billboard Hot Trending, the new chart will track music-related trends and conversations in real time across Twitter, including buzz around new releases, awards show and festival moments, music nostalgia threads and more. According to Twitter head of entertainment partnerships Sarah Rosen, music is the most talked-about topic on the social platform worldwide.

Unlike existing Billboard charts that update weekly, Billboard Hot Trending will refresh every 24 hours to capture the latest music-focused conversations happening on the platform. The chart is also unique in that it tracks what songs people are talking about — not necessarily what they’re listening to.

Advertisers can take advantage of Billboard Hot Trending via innovative ad formats that will live on Twitter and across Billboard properties. The chart will be supported with video content, consistent editorial coverage and organic support from A-list music stars.
