Turntables have outlasted the iPod

The eight-track, tape deck, CD player, and iPod have come and gone, but the 165-year-old turntable has persisted. Their designs have evolved over the years, following the designs of the time. They took off in the '50s and '60s, becoming more compact and portable. The variations in designs give each LP a unique sound when played on different turntables – which are favorites of DJs.
