Demanding employees turn on webcams might be a human rights violation

A Dutch court ruled that keeping the "webcam turned on is in conflict with the respect for the privacy of the workers," also suggesting that webcam surveillance is a human rights violation. The ruling comes in a case where Chetu, a Florida-based company, fired a Dutch telemarketer for refusing to be monitored for "9 hours per day" on a webcam. The court has ordered Chetu to pay a fine of $50,000.
