While parrot pirates have long been a threat, the crime of parrot-napping spiked since the pandemic. These thieves are diverse and can range from your neighbor to men with guns. The birds are mostly stolen to be sold, with some varieties of parrots, raised carefully and socialized, worth thousands. This comes despite a lull in the parrot market since the price of parrots have outpaced other pets.
